Beer Goggles Explained
Scientists have determined that the amount of beer consumed is not the only factor in play in the infamous 'beer goggles' effect. A formula has been devised to determine the degree to which beer goggles will kick in based upon environmental factors:
-
An = number of units of alcohol consumed
-
d = distance from 'person of interest' (range=0.5 to 3 meters)
-
S = smokiness of room (value: 0-10; 0=clear air; 10=very smoky)
-
L = luminance of 'person of interest' (candelas per square metre; 1=pitch black; 150 =normal room lighting)
-
Vo = metric visual acuity (6/6=normal; 6/12=Snellen 20/40)
